PARTICIPATE
Survey Routes
The Network relies entirely on volunteer participation. The program is coordinated by Maine Natural History Observatory in partnership with Birds Canada.
Birds Canada maintains this project's map of survey routes while the results of survey efforts are entered using NatureCounts. NatureCounts is an open data platform by Birds Canada to collect, interpret, and share biodiversity data.

Additional route details including coverage status and sign up options can be viewed on NatureCounts.
Report Nightjar Sightings
Have you found a nightjar nest in your backyard? Do you know of a local hotspot and want to share your observations? Although we do not have an official protocol for submitting incidental observations, we do recommend sharing observations to citizen science networks such as eBird to ensure your sightings are accessible to our and other research efforts.

When possible, accompany your observations with audio clips of the nightjars your are hearing. Recordings captured using a smartphone are a great means of documenting these secretive, but vociferous birds.
